Constitution

ART. I - NAME

The name of this club shall be the McKnight Women’s Club.

ART. II - OBJECT

The object shall be to aid the McKnight Village Civic Association in the extension of Village improvements. The club participates in community involvements and achievements; sponsors summer recreation programs for children; and promotes social and philanthropic work along practical lines. (Amended February, 1996)

ART. III - MEMBERSHIP

The membership shall be unlimited.

ART. IV - OFFICERS

The officers shall be a President, a Vice-President, a Recording Secretary, one (1) Corresponding Secretary and a Treasurer, who shall be elected, succeeding the adoption of this Constitution and shall hold office until the annual meeting, when their successors shall be elected as prescribed in Art. VII of this Constitution. (Amended February, 1978, February 1996)

ART. V - BOARD OF DIRECTORS

There shall be a Board of Directors, which shall consist of a Chairwoman of the Board to be filled by the President of the previous year, and the officers and the chairwomen of the Standing Committees. (Amended August 1983)

ART. VI - STANDING COMMITTEES

There shall be the following Standing Committees:

• Membership

• Programs

• Ways and Means

• Civic

The number of standing committees shall be left open for the appointment of additional committee chairwomen, if so desired. The President shall be assisted by the other officers of the club in appointing chairwomen of standing committees. (Amended February 25, 1954)

ART. VII -ANNUAL MEETING

Section 1.

The annual meeting for the election of officers, the receiving of annual reports, and any other business that may come regularly before the club shall be held on the fourth Thursday in April. Officers and directors elected shall enter upon the discharge of their duties immediately following their presentation in May. The term of the officers shall be for one (1) year, or until their successors are elected and installed. (Amended February 24, 1994)

Section 2.

A nominating committee appointed by the President shall present a slate of officers to serve for the ensuing year. The Recording Secretary shall cast one (1) ballot for a candidate or slate, provided there is only one candidate for each office named. No member shall be eligible to serve more than two consecutive terms for the same office.

ART. VIII - AMMENDMENTS

This Constitution may be amended at any regular meeting by a two-thirds vote of those present, and voting, provided the amendment has been submitted in writing at the previous meeting.
